Patient Comments

Dearest Linda,

Thank you so much for helping John, Carter and me through a very difficult time with breastfeeding. You were so kind and patient with all three of us. Your calm and reassuring manner helped me realize that I could successfully breast feed by son.

Your advice on positioning and latching on ended the pain I was experiencing. Your teaching about the use of the breast pump and storing milk helped me so much when I went back to work. Since I have to travel occasionally with my work, the stored milk enabled John to continue giving Carter my breast milk instead of formula.

Linda you are dear to our hearts.

Linda Smith was truly helpful and supportive with my breastfeeding issues. She visited me before the arrival of my baby and helped me prepare for a positive breastfeeding experience, as I had experienced difficulties breastfeeding by first two children. We spoke by telephone and she come to visit once we were home from the hospital. As I began having difficulty with low milk supply and by newborn not gaining weight…she was supportive, caring, had ideas to prolong some breastfeeding time, and never made me feel badly about the fact that I would not be able to breastfeed as long as I had hoped. The process was so much more pleasant than working with any other lactation professional I’d had in the past. Linda was very helpful with explaining the connection between my auto immune condition and breast milk production in some mothers.

During a very difficult time, Linda was like a breath of fresh air. I had been to numerous support groups run by lactation consultants, but with so many women to help, it was difficult to get one on one instruction. Additionally, it was difficult to get consistent advice as many of the groups have rotating consultants. I was so frustrated and in so much pain that I finally broke down and called her. She came to my house the following day with calm reassurance, a ton of knowledge and lots of patience. She conducted a complete evaluation of my overall health and well being, as well as my new infant. She worked on the latch with me over and over again, until it was no longer painful. She covered all aspects of breastfeeding to include advice and assistance on position, latch, pumping, storage, quantity and length of nursing time etc. One of the most helpful things she did was call me afterwards to make sure that things were still going okay. I was able to ask her several follow up questions that helped keep me on track. Since she understood my unique situation and had spent the time to really understand my problems, her advice over the phone was invaluable. Perhaps the most important thing Linda provided me was support following a diagnosis of the MRSA staph infection shortly after I saw her. I was very sick and she provided encouragement and advice on the maintenance of my milk supply, coordinating my pumping and nursing in conjunction with my medication and utilizing my previous healthy milk storage. I had tried Soothies, Lansinol and another organic nipple cream, the nursing books and support groups and nothing resolved my ongoing pain and bleeding/cracked nipples. The combination of her medical background and lactation experience gives her the ability and knowledge to address all aspects of breastfeeding. She understands the crazy emotions, frustration, mistakes and self doubt etc that many moms encounter following the birth of a child. I would highly recommend her to friends or family and if you meet her just once, you will understand when I say how wonderful she is.
